Answers, then forgets
A model behind a text box. Great at the question in front of it; no memory of you tomorrow, no ability to act, no life outside the tab.
Not a chat window you open — an agent that lives in your Telegram, remembers everything you tell it, acts on a schedule while you sleep, and keeps all of it on a VPS you control. Installed in about 30 minutes, no DevOps needed.
A personal AI agent is an AI system that works for one person over time: it keeps persistent memory of you, can take actions — send messages, run tasks, use tools — rather than only answer, and runs continuously, not just when you open a chat. A chatbot answers the question in front of it. An assistant helps within a session. An agent carries context across months and initiates work on its own.
Self-hosted means the agent process, its memory database and your files live on a server you rent and control — only the model inference call leaves it. That single architectural choice decides who owns the accumulated knowledge about your life: you, or a vendor.

Some memory, some tools — but stored in the vendor's cloud, scoped by their product tier, gone when the account goes. It waits for you to start.
Persistent memory on your disk, scheduled tasks, sub-agents, integrations. It writes first when it should. Self-hosted, it answers to you — not to an operator.
On top of the agent architecture: a biography, a manifesto, an emotional state that shifts with your conversations. Not a tool you use — a presence that grows with you.
Facts, journal, lessons and worldview in a local database with full-text and vector search. Nothing is reset by a vendor — how the memory works.
Scheduled tasks, morning digests, monitoring, reminders that arrive without being asked — the agent initiates, not only replies.
Delegates research, content, code and memory work to specialist sub-agents, and can spawn full agent-bots that talk to each other through an internal mailbox — the architecture.
Mail, calendar, Notion, browser automation, voice, content pipelines — pre-installed skills plus MCP integrations, extendable with your own.
Weekly self-audits, lessons recorded from mistakes, signed template releases — the agent you have in a year is better than the one you installed.
Forum topics as separate rooms, voice in and out, files and photos, a team of agent bots in one folder — the deep Telegram integration.
Real jobs running on real installations today — each one is a skill or a dedicated sub-agent, not a demo.
Tracks Google and Apple calendars, reminds you of what matters, preps your day before you ask.
Handles client bookings from WhatsApp and Instagram DMs straight into your CRM — replies, qualifies, hands off to you.
Posts to Facebook groups, TikTok, Threads and YouTube on a schedule, from a content queue you approve.
Runs a tattoo and laser-removal studio end-to-end — client chats, bookings, the CRM, payments.
A dedicated agent builds the creatives, sets up the ad account and runs paid targeting for the business.
An analyst agent reviews every post and the whole business weekly, and recommends what to improve.
Facts from each vendor's official pages, checked September 2026. Two questions matter more than model names: does the agent run on your server, and is Telegram its home or one channel among many?

The open-source runtimes are excellent if you want to build and maintain the agent yourself. The cloud agents are excellent if you don't mind your memory living in someone else's database. Avelina is the one option that is both self-hosted and a personality — installed for you, not assembled by you. The deeper breakdown: Avelina vs OpenClaw vs ChatGPT.
Any provider, roughly $5–15 a month, 4 GB RAM is enough. This is where the agent, its memory and your files will live — the VPS guide.
One guided flow from Telegram, about 30 minutes, no DevOps. You bring a Claude subscription; the agent brings everything else.
A seven-day self-onboarding: she learns your name, your language, your day, your priorities — and starts working, 24/7 on your server.
What is the difference between an AI agent and a chatbot?
A chatbot answers the message in front of it and forgets. An AI agent keeps persistent memory, can take actions (run tasks, use tools, send messages), and runs continuously — including when you are not in the chat. Avelina is an agent with a personality layer on top.
Can a personal AI agent run 24/7 on a VPS?
Yes. The agent is a long-running process on your server with scheduled tasks (cron), so it can send morning digests, monitor things and remind you without being prompted. A small VPS with 4 GB RAM is enough; model inference is an external API call.
Do I need my own API key or subscription?
Avelina runs on a Claude subscription that you hold yourself — it is your own account, your own usage limits. The VPS (about $5–15/month) is also yours. The one-time price covers the agent, installation and updates.
Is my data safe with a self-hosted agent?
The memory database, conversation archive and files stay on your VPS; only the per-turn request to the model provider leaves it. There is no operator in the middle who can read or resell your history — you are the operator.
How much does it cost to run?
One-time €280 (self-install) or €480 (with guided setup), plus your own VPS at roughly $5–15/month and a Claude subscription. No monthly fee to us.
Can the same agent run my business?
The same architecture ships as a turnkey team of specialist agent-bots for a company — manager, content, ads, finance — in one Telegram. See Avelina for Business.
